Business Incubation: a tool for enabling innovation and entrepreneurship. — busyinternet launched its Busy incubator program early 2005, with support from the infodev Program. The first of its kind in West Africa, this small business incubation program is designed to increase the chances of survival of young companies by providing them with a good opportunity to grow in a supportive and nurturing environment. To date, 25 companies have been successfully hosted at busyinternet. Currently, there are 10 companies located at the busyinternet facilities, which provides connectivity solutions, software development, management consulting, entrepreneurship development, business process outsourcing, computer based test preparation, and administration and web-based applications development. On a broader level, program objectives are to promote economic growth by fostering private sector development through helping existing incubators in developing countries to improve performance in order to achieve higher ’survival rates’ of incubated companies, growth and sustainability, creating synergy between incubators in developing countries, based on improved knowledge, networking and capacity building, as well as capacity building within enterprises to enhance their competitiveness, including trade competitiveness in the global business environment. Ghana’s currency is called cedis. The last time I was in Ghana, 9600 cedis was about the equivalent of 1 American dollar, and if you were eating local food 9600 cedis was enough to buy you three meals.
I hope that helps some, haha.

This is the first I’ve heard about ‘Busy Internet’ and the new enterprises in Ghana. But why would you say ‘ppl sacrifice their country’s dignity for business’ ??? I don’t understand how people are sacrificing dignity at all. On the contrary… these small businesses are actually working in this new technology enriched environment. What exactly is your problem with this?

You’re absolutely right Africa should strive to be the world leader in developing itself along a renewable resource infrastructure. The last thing Africa should do is follow the Western Model! Africa should learn from the West but improve on the model.
February 4th, 2010 at 8:17 am
i totaly agree
February 4th, 2010 at 9:13 am
why must every body always show the negative side of ghana and africa in general…..ghana is a very beautiful country but no body wants to show the good parts……why?
February 4th, 2010 at 9:55 am
and in what solar deprived, wind deprived, water deprived country do u live?
my friend, africa could develop itself based on purely renewable sources. if others countries werent holding them back and giving bad advice Africa could be dependent (and the first continent to do so) on renewable NATURAL materials.
africans arent just about money – they dont discard morals for some £’s unlike most other western countries.
